Inklings are a species of humanoid cephalopods, and one of the two playable species in the Splatoon series, along with Octolings.

Inklings start out in life as something resembling a squid paralarvae, and grow into an increasingly humanoid form as time goes on. They reach full adulthood at 14, gaining full control over the different forms, being able to switch between humanoid form and squid form at will.

In their humanoid forms, often called kid forms, Inklings have somewhat cartoonish proportions and, according to Hisashi Nogami, Inklings, at the age of 14, are around 4'11/150 cm tall. Non-playable characters are shown to be either taller or shorter, such as Pearl being 4'10/147 cm tall at age 21. Instead of hair, Inklings have 6 tentacle appendages coming from the top of their heads, and, without any styling, they have two big ones dangling from the sides of their heads, and 4 smaller ones that come from the back of their heads. You can style these however you like, with popular hairstyles including Topknot, Meaglobraid, and Buzz-cut, along with many more.
